This project was aimed at installing a facility to reduce NOx emissions from the power generating facilities of POSCO Gwangyang and Pohang Steelworks by preemptively responding to changes in environmental regulations such as the strengthening of NOx emission criteria and the implementation of emission cap system. It was a rationalization project to remove the interfering facilities, complete the basic engineering works, and supply and install selective catalytic reduction (SCR) facility and gas air heater (GAH) facility to heat up the air for combustion along with the related structures, ducts, pipelines, and insulation system.
To maintain productivity of the ordering customer, the construction was carried out during the short-term plant shut-down period. In addition, through 3D scanning of the existing facilities and application of 3D design modeling technique, design errors and risk elements were effectively removed to ensure successful project completion.
