Woongjin Energy Daegeon Ingot Plant with the gross floor area of 37,000㎡ is set on a site measuring 47,000㎡. Consisting of one basement level and three ground floors, this plant produces ingots used in solar cells.
Woongjin Energy is the only company in Korea that produces and supplies solar cell ingots and wafers. These two products form the solar energy industry value chain comprising of polysilicon–ingot–wafer–cell (solar cell)–module (panel)–power generation system. Ingot is made by melting polysilicon and crystallizing it in a bar shape. Wafer is created by slicing ingot crystals in a thickness of 1.5 mm or less.
POSCO E&C contributed to realizing eco-friendly and low-carbon business by building the ingot production plant that constitutes the solar energy industry ecosystem. POSCO E&C is constantly striving to achieve carbon neutrality by taking the initiative in responding to environmental issues.
