The Construction of Product Storage and Wharf Facilities for the First Large-scale Petrochemical Complex in Vietnam
Long Son Petrochemicals Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Siam Cement Group (SCG) based in Thailand, has laid the foundation for a new petrochemical complex in the Long Son area of Baria Vung Tau, Vietnam.
The comprehensive petrochemical complex incorporates various facilities: a naphtha cracker, which distills crude oil and manufactures essential petrochemical substances, such as ethylene and propylene through a series of cracking, cooling, and compression processes; a production facility for polymer products that serve as raw materials for multiple types of plastic; storage tanks for products and raw material transportation facilities; wharf facilities for imports and exports; and utility installations.
POSCO E&C delivered an end-to-end Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) solution for a petrochemical product storage tank with a remarkable capacity of 300,000 tons, a pipeline for transporting raw products within the complex, and wharf facilities for imports and exports.
Relying on the strong rapport established with SCG during the Thai petrochemical project, POSCO E&C celebrated an impressive one million hours without accidents and successfully met the project deadline.
