POSCO E&C Shapes the Future of Nuclear Power in South Korea
In November 2023, POSCO E&C, together with Hyundai Engineering & Construction and Doosan Enerbility, was selected as the successful bidder for the main equipment construction of Shin-Hanul Units 3 and 4, embarking on a new challenge in the nuclear power sector.
This project, a national key energy initiative, involves the construction of two 1,400 MW nuclear reactors by October 2033. POSCO E&C will jointly undertake the civil, architectural, and mechanical installation of major nuclear facilities, as well as comprehensive testing and commissioning.
As the company’s first involvement in a large-scale nuclear power plant project, this undertaking demonstrates POSCO E&C’s capabilities in highly precise and technically demanding areas. Through this project, the company has strengthened its technical credibility and brand competitiveness in the high-value plant market, while laying the foundation for expansion into the global nuclear power market.
The Shin-Hanul Units 3 and 4 project represents more than construction; it serves as a key stepping stone for realizing POSCO E&C’s vision of sustainable energy infrastructure. Building on its accumulated expertise and construction know-how, POSCO E&C will continue to contribute as a leading company to South Korea’s energy security and future growth.
