WARSAW Waste to Energy

Warsaw waste-to-energy (WTE) in Poland is a company that incinerates wastes generated in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, in an eco-friendly method.

Based on the experience of and expertise built on the Krakow WTE project completed in 2016, POSCO E&C succeeded in winning the contract for this project. This eco-friendly incineration and power generation project ordered by Warsaw Waste Treatment Corporation (local government) was aimed at supplying 14 MWe of electricity and 54 MWt of heat.

With this project, POSCO E&C expanded the base for WtE business in the European, Middle Eastern, and Southeast Asian markets. In particular, this was the second project implemented in Europe, which has the most advanced incineration technologies. Following completion of this project, we secured a foundation for entry into the global WTE market. (The scale of global incineration market is growing rapidly at the rate of 6.5% on an average a year. It is expected to grow to $35.5 billion by 2024.)
