JCET STATS ChipPAC Plant Construction Project was to build a semiconductor packaging plant of JCET STATS ChipPAC, a global semiconductor packaging specialist, on Yeongjongdo Island. Semiconductor manufacturing process is divided into the pre and post-processes.
The pre-process is to make semiconductor devices by printing circuits on wafers. The post-process is to separate the devices into individual chips, assemble them into semiconductor chips, which are the final product, and package and test the products. Following the acquisition of semiconductor assembly sector of Hyundai Electronics (currently, SK Hynix) in 1998, JCET STATS ChipPAC merged with STATS of Singapore in 2004 and JCET of China in 2015.
Through this process, it established itself as the world’s third-ranking semiconductor packaging specialist. In 2015, JCET STATS ChipPac built a new plant in the Free Trade Zone near Incheon International Airport in 2015 with a goal to secure a new growth engine in Korea. Starting with the extension of a clean room in the existing plant, POSCO E&C consecutively implemented a new plant building construction project and a 44K clean room installation project.
Clean room is a space where temperature, humidity, air pressure, noise, static electricity, etc. are controlled to remove suspended particles in air that cause a significant impediment in the manufacturing process of high-tech products, such as semiconductors. The clean class is decided according to the number of particles suspended in the air. Clean Class 100 means the existence of floating substances in the size of three dices in an Olympic-size swimming pool. For the 22K clean room extension, in particular, we won recognition for our technological power by completing a clean room with clean class 100/10,000 in only five months.
Having won trust from various customers in the electronic, electrical, and semiconductor fields over the last 40 years, we have also secured professional industrial clean room (ICR) design/construction human resources and relevant technologies.
